A WRINKLE IN TIME
This was the most difficult (and intense) collection I've ever designed, simply because I had 6 weeks to create it, pitch it to Disney, and have the final specs completed and handed off to Alex and Ani's vendor for production. Phew! Talk about a rush!
Since I didn't have much time to ponder what direction to take this in, and little help from Disney (I didn't have access to the movie footage), I went back to the basics and started with the very first words from the book: "It was a dark and stormy night." I figured if that's how the book started, it's where I'd start too. Eventually, words became the focus of the entire project.

SPRING 2018
Our spring focus was Egypt, so I started with identifying the symbol that would carry the season. I chose the Blue Lotus because Alex and Ani already sold a lotus as part of its core offerings, and I believed that showing the lotus in a new and different way would showcase it's beauty and versatility as a symbol.
I explored the many ways that the blue lotus symbol could be incorporated into the season, from a simple pattern on minimal hoop earrings, to a bright pop of color on a charm bangle, to a bold statement necklace, complete with long strands of hanging chain (a subtle nod to a lotuses hidden roots).
